Age Requirements
Students beginning kindergarten must be at least five years old by December 31 of the school year they are registering for. Students starting grade one must be at least six years old by December 31 of the school year they are registering for. Any student who has not reached their sixteenth birthday must attend school.
Non-Canadian Citizens must contact RDPSD Welcome Centre for registration instructions. This includes:
- Permanent Residents;
- Refugee Claimants;
- Children of lawfully admitted temporary residents:
- Parents/Guardians on work permits; or
- Parents/Guardians on study permits; or
- Parent/Guardian is permanent resident or Canadian citizen and their child is not.
NEW Students Wishing to Attend a School Within Â鶹ÍøÕ¾Áбí
New students to Â鶹ÍøÕ¾Áбí must complete the Â鶹ÍøÕ¾Áбí's New Student Registration form. Students living within a school's designated attendance boundary are guaranteed a placement at that school. Students requesting placement at a School of Choice will be contacted by the school administration with confirmation of acceptance or not.

In order to proceed to the full Registration Form, upon confirmation from the school administration on your successful placement, you WILL be required to provide copies or details on the following:
- Proof of citizenship (eg. Birth Certificate, Passport, Immigration Papers, etc...)
- Alberta Health Care Number
- Any court documents which relate to the welfare of the student/child
- Emergency contact information, other than the parents/guardians
- Any special medical conditions that may affect your child at school

Parent School of Choice
School attendance boundaries are established to provide neighborhood schools and transportation services. Administrative Procedures includes provisions for where facilities and resources permit.
If you are interested in having your child attend a school that is not their designated school or you reside outside of the City of Red Deer limits, complete the . Once the school receives the registration, they will contact you for any additional information they require to make a decision on whether your child will be accepted. If your child is accepted, you will be asked to complete either a School of Choice Application form (if you reside within the City of Red Deer limits), or an Out-of-City Application form (if you reside outside the City if Red Deer limits). This application will be accessible in your parent PowerSchool account that is created when you are accepted for registration.
Red Deer Student Verification Process (RSVP) - EXISTING students wishing to remain with a school within Â鶹ÍøÕ¾Áбí
Students who are currently enrolled in a school within Â鶹ÍøÕ¾Áбí must register and verify their information in preparation for the next school year.
