Susan graduated from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in 1980 and then earned a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, majoring in Architecture & Landscape Architecture, graduating with distinction from the University of Manitoba in 1985. After graduation, Susan returned to Red Deer and took a position working in the Community relations department of Red Deer College. In 1989 Susan joined Drummond Brewing Company as the Marketing Director. In 1997 Susan joined Bowood Homes as an Architectural Designer. Today Susan still designs for Bowood homes, and has been the president of the company since 2015.
Susan is a proud Red Deerian who believes in giving back to her community. This is demonstrated through the many boards and volunteer organizations that Susan has been involved with. In 2015 Susan and a friend started a Red Deer of Chapter of 100 Women Care. Known as 100+ Women Who Care- Red Deer, this organization will have raised and donated more than $380,000 to local Charities and service organizations by the end of 2019.
